I absolutely loved the main characters and the chemistry between them.
Jennifer is witty, attractive, and has no scruples in using her charm to woo the man she desires. His getting married the next day, or running for governor, is just a minor inconvenience. Even when her spell backfires, she loses nothing of her sharpness.
Wooley is an honorable man who doesn’t want to take advantage of a pretty girl he rescues from the fire. The mixture of attraction and fear Jennifer causes him makes him most appealing.
The way Jennifer never loses her cool is what drew me to her character. She can love, despair, and flirt, but never becomes a cliché lady in distress nor a simple femme fatale.
The humor comes mostly from unusual situations, irony, and character dynamics rather than slapstick comedy, which makes the movie a most adorable romantic comedy with a bite.
